071 SelfWork: The Disease of Perfectionism
Today’s topic is perfectionism. I call it a disease in the title because it can cause not only emotional and psychological problems when it’s out of control, but the stress of perfectionism can lead to illness and even suicide. I talked with a phenomenal expert on perfectionism last week, Dr. Gordon Flett, and I’ll have some quotes from him. I’ll also offer five ways to confront perfectionistic thinking, as SelfWork is all about “what you can do about it.”
Our email from a listener today is someone who listened to the podcast on procrastination and had a few questions about her own problems with motivation.

Its message is specifically for those with a struggle with strong perfectionism which acts to mask underlying emotional pain. But the many self-help techniques described can be used by everyone who chooses to begin to address emotions long hidden away that are clouding and sabotaging your current life.
