013 SelfWork: What To Expect When You’re Divorcing

ByDr. Margaret February 27, 2017March 25, 2020 March 25, 2020

Divorce is tough, no matter how amicable. If you or someone you love is considering divorce, this episode of SelfWork will walk you through what you may be able to expect. Dr. Margaret offers some surprising facts about divorce, and reveals six ways to be your best self during what can be a difficult life transition. Or at least try to be your best. How you choose an attorney, what you may need to consider about the emotional support you’re receiving, taking divorce breaks – all these factors are important, and when chosen wisely, can prevent a divorce from getting completely out of control. She’ll also answer a reader’s question about what’s difficult about being an older “child,” or an adult with children yourself, when parents divorce after many years — what’s termed “gray divorce.”
Here are the links mentioned in the broadcast:

  • The New York Times’ report that divorce is on the decline.
  • Here’s a link about being an adult when your parents divorce.
  • And a You Tube video about the movie “Adult Children of Divorce.”

My new book entitled Perfectly Hidden Depression has arrived and you can order here! Its message is specifically for those with a struggle with strong perfectionism which acts to mask underlying emotional pain. But the many self-help techniques described can be used by everyone who chooses to begin to address emotions long hidden away that are clouding and sabotaging your current life.
